Klipsch RF82 II BLACK Single 2-way Reference series black floor-standing speaker

I received these speakers from Amazon in the time frame specified. Delivery was awesome and very helpful.

The setup for these speakers was a snap. Good terminal connections. Just a simple mount for the base to stabilize the speaker from tipping. Very stable.

I am using these for a secondary viewing area and as a music studio reference speaker. The higher power handling is very good with no distortion and very very crisp high and mid-range, typical with Klipsch horn driver. The low end is slightly limited which can be offset with proper EQ without the aid of a sub-woofer. The addition of a sub, while not needed does add improved low end. (watch your cross over frequency of the sub) The Klipsch 12 inch sub is a great... Read more

5.0 out of 5 stars Smooth and Powerfull, December 1, 2010

I just came from listening to the RF-82II with the RC-62 center and color me impressed. I have always been a Heritage series bigot, preferring the sound quality of a 3 way horn speaker and the powerfull bass generated by both porting and passive radiators. I own the Forte II's amd a quartet center channel(my favorites, I like 'em better than the Cornwalls).

I was expecting to be less than surprised by the two way system, but instead I came away with an impression of a powerfull, dynamic speaker at home with video game soundtracks, movies and music. There was none of the shrillness accompanying many two way horn systems.

Would I trade them for my Heritage series stuff, no way. Were I to go out and get something modern and aesthetically appealing, the answer is yes. Fortunately my wife understands my fetish and I accomodate her with a pair of the RF-62's and an RC-62 in her playroom. I have a man cave, she has her room, fair enough.

5.0 out of 5 stars Klipsch rf-82 ii, February 24, 2011
This review is from: Klipsch RF-82 II Reference Series Floorstanding Loudspeaker - Each (Black) (Electronics)
I am looking for front speakers and a receiver to start a home theater system. I want the front speakers to really excel at music because I enjoy listening to music in 2 or 2.1 channel stereo. If the speakers can handle music well I am confident they will be able to handle movies.

I went to local audio shops and I was able to hear the rf-82ii's at one place and they sounded pretty good. They were being powered by a 105 watt per channel Pioneer reciever. The sales person explained that they had just set up the 82ii's a couple of days ago and they were not broken in yet. Immediately after hearing the Klipschs I went to another shop and the only speaker that impressed me (near my budget) was the Monitor Audio rx6. They sounded great on mellow music and some aoustic/piano stuff and they did ok on rock. When I left the shop, the MA's were at the top of my speaker list.

To be fair to the rf-82ii's, however, I wanted to hear a pair that were broken in. I went to... Read more
