One of the speakers tweeter did not work and had to change it over which was a pain. Other than that the finish is great, seems to be very well built. The speaker does not have floor spikes, or any way to place any on its base for those who need to place on carpet. They are fairly heavy each and quite deep compared with their widths.The actual woofers are actually attractive. The cones are of great quality and the phase plug is not just glued on to the cone - they go to the deeper magnet driver and do not move with the movement of the actual woofer - tend to be found in higher priced speakers. The front baffle is a glossly black finish the rest seems to be vinyl, there are four binding post to the rear so the speaker can be bi-amped or bi-wired. Finally, and most importantly, the speakers sound fantastic even out of the box - they company recommends 100 hours break in so I hope they will open up further... Read more 5.1 system, This review is from: Energy CF-50 Floorstanding/Tower Speaker (Black) (Electronics) I recently purchased a 5.1 energy system consisting of CF-50 Fronts, CC-10 center, CB-10 rears and ESW-C10 sub.I've read a lot of reviews on CF-50 but after listening to Klipsch I found CF-50 to be clearer in the sound, warmer and closer to my listening habits. For the price I've paid I believe the system is outstanding. The only thing that I'm not impressed so much are the rear speakers that, are still in the break-in period and have a more closed sound, but I expect them to open. I use it 80% for Home Theater (movies) and 20% for sound. I'm watching again the Lord of The Rings - and I'm blown away by the sound - awesome. CF-50 are just great for music too. Let's say I've listened to speakers 3x the price of CF-50 and got a feeling that their performed very well. Build quality is good and sound is good. Can't say anything about subwoofer as I live in an apartment and the woofer might be too much for my neighbors. Great system for the buck!!! |
